Astro Update: March 2014

Astro Update: March 2014

The Sun is in emotional, creative Pisces now.  Winter is ending, and Spring is on the way. Since 2014 is another “roller-coaster” of a year, it probably won’t surprise you when I say this will be a very eventful month. So, fasten your seat belts and get ready for the ride!

Mercury has been retrograde and in a pretty grumpy mood for a solid month, messing up our plans, our technology, and our connections with others. Of course, some good things probably came out of it, too. Connections with people from the past are often positive and illuminating during Mercury Retrograde cycles. But most of us feel a bit more “normal” when Mercury is direct.

And March starts off with Mercury direct! Now we can get ready to launch some new projects and step away from any tangles that happened during February. But tread cautiously, as there is a ton of energy that is flying every which way during the first week of March. Reserve plans for anything really big until after the Quarter Moon on the 8th.

So, what’s the big deal? Well, right after Mercury goes direct, Mars and Saturn go retrograde in close proximity to the New Moon in Pisces on March 1. Mars will be in Libra, giving us a chance to review many important lessons about our relationships over the next 9 weeks or so. Saturn in Scorpio turns retrograde, bringing another kind of review for many of us, regarding things we have been building and rebuilding over the last 2 years. There is an intensity factor here that will affect many people very strongly. If you are open to the lessons that will be unfolding, this could be a time of powerful insights and epiphanies. If you try to ignore important challenges that arise, you may get kicked in the fanny.

On a global level, with Mars retrograde in Libra and the rather intense Grand Cardinal Cross shaping up as April nears, we can expect some fireworks. Diplomacy will be hard to come by and aggression may rule the day in certain arenas. Probably not the best couple of months to travel to certain parts of the world…If you are wondering where not to go, just watch the news. It will be pretty obvious. They say the aggressor usually loses during Mars Retrograde, Guess we’ll see how that pans out. In your own life, be a peace-keeper, even if you don’t feel like it. It’s always better to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

When the Full Moon in Virgo arrives on Sunday March 16, things will be much clearer. This Full Moon looks like a good one for healing, creativity, and romance. Spring Equinox follows just a few days later on March 20. The Equinox is always a great time for renewal and inspiration. Plan to use this cool energy to drop outworn patterns and blocks and start on your path with renewed enthusiasm. For those who are ready for a relationship, this is a good time to put that intention out to the Universe! Same goes if you need to attract helpful partnership in business.

March Horoscopes

For all the Sun Signs: Keep your eyes wide open during the first week of March, with Mercury direct, Mars Retrograde, Saturn Retrograde and the New Moon in Pisces converging. Astro-Opportunity Days: March 8, 13, 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 28 29. Everyone will have a bit of an edge and a touch of luck on these days, so take advantage of it!

Aries (March 21-April 19) With your ruler Mars going retrograde this month, and the Sun in your Solar 12th House, it would be wise to cool your jets a bit and do some self-nurturing. Instead of blazing ahead, try diving into your center. A need for balance and harmony is high. And your intuition will serve you well if you get quiet enough to hear it, and heed the messages that come through. Body, Mind, Spirit alignment is in order.

Taurus (April 20-May 20) Connect with important friends and colleagues. Some of them may be willing to lend support that you need. But be selective about who you open up to. Saturn retrograde in Scorpio will start to bring up unsolved issues from the past. Don’t hide your head in the sand. Time to get into problem solving mode!

Gemini (May 21 to June 20) You will be taking a serious look at your life direction and career. And you’ll need to ask yourself how all of this fits in with your relationship goals…or does it? Time to make sense of your outer world and inner world needs.

Cancer (June 21 to July 21) If you have been putting things in their proper place in your life, you should be seeing some amazing developments now. If you need to work harder towards goals, go for it. Take advantage of the inspiration and energy that is available and move some mountains.

Leo (July 23-August 22)  Roll up your sleeves and tackle some of those things you’ve needed to take care of in your home. And if you feel at odds with emotional issues from the past, take some steps to process them, so you can move forward. Endings are as important as beginnings in many ways.

Virgo (August 23-September 22) There’s action in the romance and partnership department now, but much of what happens will depend on your own clarity and ability to determine fact from fiction. Use your knowledge of human nature when deciding who to connect with, both personally and in business. Opportunities abound, but caution is advised.

Libra (September 23-October 22 )  There is much potential to heal and restore your body at this time, and perhaps a need to do so! Libra, balance thyself! There will be very important lessons and messages regarding your significant relationships. Pay attention and read the memo!

Scorpio (October 23 to November 21) Work with your creativity and much will come of it now. Fight the impulse to retreat into your own world, as much can be accomplished now. Saturn retrograde in your sign will let you know if there are responsibilities that need attention. Best to attend to them voluntarily.

Sagittarius (November 22-December 21) Powerful motivations are stirring inside you regarding home, family, and the past. This is a time to reflect and connect to your priorities. Put things in place to give yourself more freedom in the coming months.

Capricorn (December 22-January 19) You are learning about your connections to others. Don’t hide from it. Take a good look around you. There are new people who would like to get to know you, both socially and professionally. Go find them!

Aquarius (January 20-February 18) Money and career are highlighted now. Clear your head and get your game on. Positive financial dealings are in the offing. Improvement and opportunity in the work place is likely.

Pisces (February 19-March 20) This could be a magical month! Romantic, creative, and spiritual energy surrounds you. This is your chance to heal old wounds and get back in the saddle! Get inspired and put your best foot forward. The dawn is breaking. Get ready to move forward.

Astro Update: February 2014

Astro Update: February 2014

It’s already February and 2014 is well underway. Lots of planetary energies are shifting this month! Venus, the planet of love and abundance, has been retrograde in the sign of Capricorn since late December, which is usually not much fun, but she just went direct! This is good news for matters of the heart, creativity, and even finances, so hallelujah for that! But guess what… (imagine music from Jaws playing the background) it’s time for the first Mercury Retrograde of the year!!!!!

When a planet is retrograde, basically, without getting into astrophysics, its energy is not flowing in its regular way. With Mercury, the planet that rules communication, transportation, and technology, it’s often highly noticeable in the world we live in today. Things just tend to go catawampus much more than normal, if that’s possible. Since it happens 3 times a year for just over a month each session, it’s good to know.  Without splitting hairs, suffice it to say the entire month of February will be dominated by this Mercury Retrograde energy. You can troubleshoot this by avoiding starting new projects, signing contracts, scheduling elective surgeries, making major purchases, or big travel plans this month. Sometimes it’s not possible to avoid these activities, but if something major is in the offing and it can wait until March, it’s likely to be more successful. Great for connecting with people and projects from the past, though.

Nevertheless, the month begins with Chinese New Year and I just love theYear of the Wood Horse. I think it’s going to take the edge off some of the planetary drama that’s been raging for the past few years and give people of good kick in the pants to get their lives moving forward. It may also help stabilize the economy somewhat (hey, we can hope.) There’s a sexy Full Moon in Leo on Valentine’s Day, so don’t mope around if you don’t have an SO. Go out and meet someone! For those who are hooked up, do make sure not to let miscommunication (Mercury Retro) or Full Moon Madness mess up the fun.

Astro-Opportunity Days: February 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 22, and 23. These days will have a little more of the “luck” factor of everyone, so take advantage of it.

 Horoscopes for February

For all the Sun Signs: Mercury will spend most of its retrograde phase in the sign of Aquarius. This means problems with technology are very likely. Keep that in mind, protect important data, and don’t be surprised if your phones, devices, or computers decide to go bananas.

Aries (March 21-April 19) This is not the time to be a loner. Get involved with people around you. Accept invitations for social activity or throw your own party or event. The connections you make this month could bring both happiness and benefit into your world. Be conscious of breaking past habits that are getting in the way of your progress.

Taurus (April 20-May 20) This is a perfect time to refine your long range plans. Do you know where you really want to go and how you plan to get there? Get all the information you need together and form a strategy. Nose to the grindstone is fine, but you have to have a clear vision of your aim as well. Don’t just blindly forge ahead.

Gemini (May 21-June 20 ) You have fortunate vibrations concerning money, legal issues, and educational pursuits. So, don’t play hooky, apply yourself and use this energy to get some things moving. This could be a very productive cycle, particularly with projects and issues that started in the last few months. Focus your energy.

Cancer (June 21-July 21) Lots of action in many important areas all at once! Jupiter is direct in your sign, giving you optimism and some green lights for your goals. There’s strong emotional energy around relationships and business partnerships with some possible power struggles. And lots of deep insights about the past. Don’t let the intensity knock you off balance!

Leo (July 23-August 22) Powerful forces are at work in the relationship department. This can also be business related, but most likely it’ll be personal. Fate is at work. Be conscious about what you want, and what you don’t want. Expect some drama around the Full Moon on Valentine’s Day. All in all, it should be a creative and changeful month!

Virgo (August 23-September 22) A period of quiet would help right now. Calm your schedule down a little and go over your priorities. You may not have gotten into a groove with the New Year yet, and Virgos really need to have their groove on! Being busy isn’t enough. You need to be effective. Taking a few things off your plate may actually help with that now.

Libra (September 23-October 22) Every once in a while a window of opportunity suddenly flies open. Will you be ready to jump through it? There may be some rainbows and unicorns waiting for you out there! Strong creative and emotional energy is around you, but you must be open to receive it. Venture forth.

Scorpio (October 23-Novemeber 21) This is a good time to attend to the business of living your life…handling things that are right in front of you. Put some energy into harmonizing your environment. Make some plans to clear away and purge “stuff” that has accumulated…in your home, on your computer, and in your head.

Sagittarius (November 22-December 21) Your mood may be vacillating between uncertainly and excitement. What will you do next? Your tendency to take the shotgun approach may not be helping you right now. A more specific approach to goals will help.

Capricorn (December 22-January 19) Time to get your game on. You need a bit of an overhaul on your persona for the New Year. Who are you and how do you want people to see you? Have a plan for that. And be ready to tackle the financial zone with energy and intention.

Aquarius (January 20-February 18) Lots of people who will notice you now, professionally and otherwise. If there is a project that flopped at the end of 2013, look into resurrecting it. It there are people you wanted to connect with but didn’t, try again now. Your results will likely be much better!

Pisces (February 19-March 20) Your creative, psychic, whimsical side is going full tilt. Temper it with some logic and you might be dangerous. But your tendency to idealize and fantasize about things could end up biting you in the butt pretty hard. Be realistic and you’ll get much closer to your dreams!

All About Virgos

Virgo is the 7th sign of the zodiac, beginning around the 22nd of August through the 22nd of September. If your birthday falls right at the edge of the starting or ending point you need to check with an astrologer to see what you really are, as it varies a little year to year.

Virgo is an Earth Sign, along with Taurus and Capricorn. Earth Signs are considered to be physical, sensual, practical, industrious, rational, goal oriented, and down to earth. Virgo is ruled by the planet Mercury, which is the god of the intellect; therefore Virgos are a bit more like Air Signs in that they are very mentally driven. Gemini is also ruled by Mercury. Virgos, like Geminis, are always thinking and analyzing. Both Virgo and Gemini are considered youthful or Mercurial signs, and needless to say, they tend to be young at heart and in body.

Virgos are Mutable, which means they are team players, adaptable, changeable, and good multi-taskers. Sometimes they take this a little too far and get too many projects going at once. Learning to focus and simplify is good medicine for Virgos. Virgos are sometimes concentrate so much on making the quilt squares that they neglect to put the whole darn quilt together. You get the picture.

Virgos are service oriented and want to do something that is “useful”. Sometimes they get caught hanging out in the background making someone else famous or wealthy because they don’t have the confidence to get out there in front and make decisions for themselves. But don’t ever underestimate a Virgo. Once they find their mission in life, they will work tirelessly to perfect it. They are the masters of technique and refinement and can run circles around others once they get inspired about something.

Virgos have an innate sense of style that makes them great artists, interior designers, and fashion experts. A balanced Virgo will always be impeccable with their wardrobe and personal grooming, right down to their toenails. Virgos tend to prefer a classic sense of style to something more wild, bold, or avant-garde, which would appeal more to an artsy Pisces or Aquarian, maybe a Leo. Virgos have a keen appreciation for anything that has craftsmanship and value, so they need to make lots of money so they can afford the best. Sometimes the quest for perfection can lead them to insecurity and sleepless nights worrying about how to be better.

Virgos are very adept at anything having to do with the world of business. Their analytical abilities make them great auditors, editors, CPAs, brokers, realtors, and information specialists.

Virgo pitfalls? Yes, there are some. They are very self-critical and sometimes equally critical of others. Their awesome problem solving abilities often lapse into nit picking and pettiness. Since Virgos thrive on order, sometimes they end up being too controlling and don’t allow themselves to be spontaneous. It’s also hard for Virgos to stop over-analyzing every darn thing.

More on the up side, Virgos have a natural knack for anything dealing with health and healing and they make great personal trainers, dancers, holistic healers, doctors, and nurses. Even if they don’t go this direction as a career, they are often very knowledgeable about the subject.

Virgo rules the intestines and this is both their strong area and their weak point. Eating healthy and avoiding the kind of stress that can lead to ulcers or a spastic colon is essential

Who do they get along with best? Other earth signs: Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn. And Water Signs: Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces. This will also depend on other planets in the chart, so don’t take it as gospel.

Early Virgos, born from August 23rd through the 26th will be on a roller-coaster ride this year and next with Uranus in Pisces opposing their Suns. Point in case: Kobe Bryant. This transit doesn’t have to be bad; it just means you are in for major changes and unexpected events this year and next.

Jupiter just went into the sign of Virgo, and that is good news for all Virgos over the next year. Time to forge ahead and take advantage of new opportunities.
